A month ago was driving along and a car ran over a broken leaf spring that came off a trailer and smashed my Windshield! So now I'm thinking where do I go to get it fixed? Was thinking to go to Safelite Big company Or a small windshield shop Or a Ford dealership that subs to work out but they should know how to put a windshield in. I did not have insurance for glass coverage and I didn't wanna go through Comprehensive insurance .
Safelite was going to charge me for a OE windshield 1344.00 . Small windshield shop OE glass 989.00 . Local Ford Dealership 1550.00
Shouldn't been no-brainer but Went to Ford dealership Anyway big mistake. the first windshield they put in Had a couple issues with it . Windshield was installed crooked and Lopsided and sticking up Driver side Lucky for the installer the windshield was Distorted and HUD wasn't working properly. It was a pain but Ford warranty the windshield. Now with a new windshield you figure the installer would pay attention to detail.. So what he did now was he just favored one side with the windshield.. I just don't understand how a Dealership will hire a moron to do work for them! It bothers me but I don't want them to take it out a third time. I'm just wondering what you guys would do? Next time I go back there. I'm thinking about talking to the service manager about it!
I would 1000% let the service manager know. I would also have them fix it again and give you a loaner in the meantime. Is this the same dealership you bought your truck from?
Bought it from the same dealership yes it's a brand new 2024 Platinum 250 Does not have many miles on it either
The aggravation I went through to get them to do it the second time was unbelievable . But I was only dealing with the service writer at the time I didn't talk to the service manager yet

Every dealership has a customer service phone number and I would start there, if they have good management the service manager will contact you, just be aware that most dealerships use phone answering systems that are terrible, try to leave a message on that person's voice mail. Most dealerships are VERY interested in their Ford CSI ratings and will try hard to get in your good graces.
Only windshield leak issue i have had with an aluminum ford f150 about 10 years ago was at a Ford dealer. I remember it being a PITA.
Anyway a non brand name volume glass shop here in Houston quoted me $471installed for a Ford windshield yesterday but its for my 2017 f250 king ranch.
I replaced the same one 2 years ago with a Ford one for a similar price at a little body shop.
But I have a cab light leak I thought was the windshield and they had to quote me before pulling the windshield. Luckily testing it showed it was a light and they didn’t even charge me. Iranian owned business off Hilcroft if anyone needs it I can post it or Pm it.
Be careful with SafeLite. Had them replace a windshield on my 2018 with an alleged “Ford” windshield and they never got it right. The black band at the top was not wide enough so you could see up inside the headliner when looking at the truck from the front. They swore it was factory, but I did not have that problem before it was replaced. Ended up stuffing some black weather stripping in there which made it mostly unnoticeable.
Had my 22 windshield replaced at a dealership. Had to wait for the ford windshield to deliver, first one was damaged in shipping. Had to reschedule the appointment. and a local independent glass guy installed it. He did a great job and only took a couple of hours.
Getting a dealer to replace glass is like going there for an oil change for $300, where a 17yr old hs kid making $7.55/hr. Does the work and expecting perfection. Never every go to the dealer after you buy the truck.
Just curious with the windshield they put in . What would the Ford manufacturer number would be on the windshield . Does anyone have a 2024 F250 with hud ?
Just curious if this windshield is really a OE windshield. The manufacturer number on this one is RC3B-P03100- FB
My question is, why didn't you use your comprehensive insurance to replace it? Likely would have been whatever your deductible was (mine is I believe $100), and often a glass shop will waive that. The dealer won't but even so it should have been no more than the cost of your deductible, and it doesn't impact your rate much if at all.
The rest of the issues you ran into are pretty common when the service department does a repair that should be done in the body shop.
I would only go back to the dealer for warranty work. Anything not covered under the factory warranty is either done by me or a specialized shop (i.e., an auto glass shop for a new windshield). I would never let the dealer touch my truck unless the warranty covers it.
I have 24 KR with HUD and had to have windshield replaced and had Safelite do it. Had to make sure when they showed up they had the OEM windshield and not their version. Seems if you don't make it abundantly clear you'll have to delay a day or two for them to get the OEM. Appears you have the same part that is on mine. I made sure the FORD logo was at the top and at the bottom it had AHUD and SoundScreen. Also make sure the electrical pigtail at the top of the screen comes with the windshield.
