Suspension options

How yall doing!

im just starting to look into getting new suspension for my 84 f250 chassis and am wondering what options look like. I’m looking for as smooth of a ride as I can get off-road as that’s the where I would spend most of my time. Would love if yall could share some experience with different kits of all price ranges! Thank you for the help everyone!

Off-road, I am assuming it's 4x4. What type of front axle are you going to run? Original TTB or swap to a Dana 60 straight axle? A f250 is never going to ride as nice as a f150.

it is a 4x4, currently has the TTB but am planning to do some major work so axle swap is something I’d consider. I’m trying my best to get a modernish(I know it is near impossible) ride feel out if it. Thanks for the input

You have a leaf sprung frontend, and they never ride as nice as coil springs. It's the nature of the beast, and you have a heavy duty truck. Later on Ford went to front coils with a solid front axle like I have in the truck I drive at work, a 2009 F350 Superduty. But changing to coil springs would be a lot or work.

Another problem is lifting the truck. Lift springs ride rough. If you keep it stock with the stock springs, that is going to be way better than any type of lift spring. Your only other possible choice would be to do a solid axle swap, using a shackle reversal kit from Sky Off Road Design or I think there are a few other companies. With some of these shackle reversal kits, they make kits that take the longer super duty leaf springs, which are supposed to give a better ride, and the shackle reversal kit also gives a better ride if you are going to use a straight axle dana 60. I believe you will get some lift out of these kits also.

Here is a link. You can see this kit is only for 85-up f350's. That is because those are stock trucks with the dana 60 frontaxle. If you read the fine print, if you convert your truck to a dana 60 axle and get rid of the ttb, then you can use this kit or one like it. https://www.skysoffroaddesign.com/pr...pr_seq=uniform
