Edge Fuel Pressure Sensor Issues

Hoping the vast repository of knowledge on this forum can help me out.... I just installed an Edge Fuel Pressure sensor for my CS2. Upon installation it read roughly 90 psi, depending on load. To test this, I installed a lower psi FPR spring, and it still reads that high. I have a stock fuel pump. Clearly, this is wrong. Does anyone know how I might fix this?

Before you condemn the sensor, check it with a mechanical gauge.

I've got the Diesel Street kit also, just need to plug in the sensors for coolant and fuel pressure...

hope mine reads right.

Sound like it could be a bad sensor or maybe wrong settings for it on the edge.

Whats read after you switch key on without starting and let it sit for a few minutes. Does it ramp up to 90 and then back down to 0 after a few? Or stay at constant 90?

I don’t know enough about the Edge and it’s setup to comment on that aspect.

I do know that a factory stock fuel pump is +/- 100psi and a stock FPR spring is +/- 55 psi.

To easily confirm sending unit numbers do a fuel pressure check with a mechanical gauge.

Maybe he's not using the proper port and reading pressure from the pump pre regulator?

There are 2 ports on the fuel bowl. One is pre-filter (centre mid) one is post filter (lower left).

Both will be FPR controlled since the FPR is on what is leaving the fuel bowl. Lower left will be what the injectors see after it has gone through the fuel filter.

Well, gentlemen… you inspired me to be more thorough. The edge guage is accurate! I used a mechanical guage to read pressure. I took it for a drive and goosed it uphill in my hottest tune and it dropped to 57 psi, like I would expect. That means I have a fuel return problem OR my fuel filter is plugged? I apparently installed it in the pre-filter port.) I double-checked the install of the FPR spring. I have the Gold spring from RiffRaff installed. (The 62 or 65 psi one, I believe.) I also removed my relatively new fuel filter and blew it out real well. ( I don’t have a new one. Yes, I will order a new one ASAP. I have a good pre fuel pump filter installed, so I’m not that stressed.) Now… I’m at 77 psi at idle. I have a hard time believing my return line is clogged… I will try a new fuel filter and let y’all know what happens, unless anyone has a better idea?

Does your fuel pressure bleed down after the 30 second time out on the fuel pump. This is a key on engine off test. KOEO is the acronym.

Should bleed fairly quickly 15-25 seconds. That will give you an idea of the return line status.
