Frame swap?
top of the fuel tank has a ton of flaked off rust on it and a custom flat bed but the body just has light rust like theyd both have cancer
Also the transmission crossmember dont quite look right looks like one from an auto but the cab is factory stickshift probably originally t19 now zf5 I'm wondering if the frame was auto originally but honestly no idea looks exactly like an e4od crossmember not my m5od but I know the zf5 crossmember sits lower anyway
I'll add pics in a day or 2 but the cameras busted on my phone for now
zf5 and 1356 arent factory especially since its a 2wd
10.25 rear idk if that started in 87 or earlier but I think most if not all of these would have been dana 70
also looked for the vin on the frame and I cant find it maybe I didn't look in the right spot but I'm pretty sure its gone
So you would have a 6.9 diesel as I dont think the 7.3 came out till after 86 models.
From what I know the transmission crossmembers are the same between autos & sticks and being the truck has a non-year factory trans my guess it came from the truck the trans came from.
You did not say if the truck is a 250 or 350 but I dont think a 250 would have a 70 rear from the factory, not sure if 350's would?

Where was that number I think your first post it was a cross member? The only number you can go by is the one on the top of the right frame rail between the shock tower and under the cab floor.
Does the cab VIN match the paper work you have for the truck if so dont worry about it.

I say this because when I was working for a trucking company the owner wrecked a new pickup truck and it sat for a long time with a new frame sitting next to it.
I dont know what happened to it as one day the truck & frame were gone and I dont think he had his other garage built at that time where he had a body shop where they did tractor trailer cab swaps and LP trailer rebuilds like cut leaf spring suspension off and weld on air ride and then paint it.
