i just bought a 9y expy and tried 4 WD for the first time and noticed that the A4wd drive light blinks. Is it suppose to blink?? i was told that it will blink till it engages and then stay on till it goes off again. any explanation would help. Also, do A4wd and 4hi or 4 lo work with the same parts cause my expy won't go to 4 hi or 4lo and the lights in the dash won't even come on and i am not sure of the problem. I have checked fuses and such. Any help would be helpful.
No!
The 4x4 light in the dash is not suppose to blink continuously. If you shift to 4 Hi the light should be on solidly with-in 3 to 4 seconds. To shift into 4 Lo, stop, put truck in neutral move selector switch to 4 Lo, tap the brake and listen for a thud. The 4Lo indicator should light up and you are on your way. There are several go post in this forum on this topic. I am not aware of an "A4WD light". A flashing "4x4" light indicates a problem.
I have a 99 EB and I am experiencing the same issue, a blinking 4x4 light when I am in A4WD mode. Upon switching to 4H or 4L, the 4x4 light stays on, as it is supposed to, but constantly blinks in the A4WD.
Any thoughts on likely cause(s)? and recommended fixes?
