So I got a oem new gas gauge for my 1988 ford f150 and I want to replace it with the old exact same one that is on the instrument cluster and I can’t find a video or instructions to do so…need help
Remove trim panels to get access to the clear lens then remove that as well. I think might you need to remove the other gauge onboard of that one before you can remove that gauge.
So your saying I have to take to rpm gauge and the speed gauge off before I can get to the gas gauge ? Also do I just unscrew them and they pop off ? Or is there more to it
You don't have to mess with any wiring or connectors. You do not have to remove the rpm or speed gauge, You may have to remove the temperature/battery gauge first becasue of those tabs on the left side of the fuel gauge. They all just pop out - no screws. It is all simple, no hidden screws or problems - everything you need to unscrew is right there in the front and easily accessible.
Start by removing all the torqs screws around the cluster. Gosh I can't remember the entire sequence, but just keep removing stuff (2 sizes of torqs - maybe 20 and 15, I think the plastic cover over the cluster is a smaller size) until you get to the cluster. Then just pop out the old gauge and put in the new one and reverse the process of disassembly. Be careful removing any trim, but it should pop out. There is one torqs below the steering column, but you may not have to remove that trim - I don't remember.
I put it in after I figured it all out and the new one did the same thing went to e at the old one so idk what do you from here but yeah installation went well and thanks again
It had two tanks in it, but we took both of them out and replaced the back one and then we got a new sending unit and the sending unit didn’t have a pump in tank pump in it. It just had the float for the gauge in the front tank the wires from it are just hanging.

I don’t know what any of that means.
The new gauge is doing the same thing. Doing what?
