2001 7.3 Fuel issues

I could really use some advice, I have an 01 7.3 Superduty, I have recently changed the fuel filter. In this process I noticed allot of crap in the bottom of the fuel filter bowl. I did what was probably the dumbest thing I could have and blew it out with air. I think In doing so I probably plugged things up. I starts and runs but, get it out on the road it doesn't want to accelerate. Is there somthing other than injectors I could have plugged? I heard something about screens in banjo bolts?

First thought is some gunk got into the stand pipe in the center of the fuel bowl and it cannot fully open. Here's what it looks like. It shuts off fuel entirely if no fuel filter is installed. Pop the bowl open again and poke the shaft in the stand pipe, see if it moves easily.

Pics might help too.

As long as you left the black centre stem in place when you blew it out no debris could make it to the feed lines or injectors.

There is a fuel pressure regulator on the return line that may have some contaminants partially holding it open and causing a low fuel pressure issue.

Or if you removed the black centre stand and disassembled that unit you may have reassembled wrong and that could be restricting fuel flow.

Another issue could be the filter and cap combination, and is it properly depressing the plunger assembly on the black stem.

To be clear… it ran good before you opened up the fuel bowl, now it doesn’t.

Edit: couldn’t see the writing done by David until I submitted my post. It seems he picked a bad colour for his font. I just changed it to red in my reply.

Thanks for the heads up! I see invisible fonts on posts regularly, need to select the text to highlight to read it. I assumed it was because I use dark mode. I thought I was using default font buy I'll dig into it.

Do you have a fuel pressure gauge? Good time to take the bowl off and rebuild it, plenty of videos to walk you through.

Yes, prior to changing the fuel filter it ran ok.
I did not take anything else out of the fuel bowl, just the old filter.
That's when I noticed all the slimy crap in the bowl.
I will check that center stem, I didn't know about that.
This is what I was needing a direction to look.
