I was looking at my switches today and had the dash partially removed out enough to see behind them. (1966 F100) I plan on swapping out bezels etc and possible headlight switch and want to see which one were original before ordering replacements if needed. I decided to try the wiper switch, the wipers started across the windshield and then just stopped. So i was looking for the motor location but can not find where it is. I have the service manuals and that tells me how to test the motor. I just don't know where it is located. and is it is run to a separate fuse. It may very well be the original motor. thanks Jeff
If you look at where the wiper pivot shafts each enter the cab and then look inside under the dash in the same two spots you may see two longer arms that attached to the wiper motor.
The part numbers for the arms varied some depending on which wiper motor and one versus two speed, but here's a visual example of what they essentially look like. They were color coded to help identify them from one another.
C3TZ-17545-A - ARM - WINDSHIELD WIPER MOUNTING - R.H. - 12 1/4" Long - Black
The longer arms run to the wiper motor and connect behind the wiper motor mounting bracket that looks like this
C4TZ-17496-F - BRACKET - WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTOR MOUNTING
No separate fuse for the wiper motor. The orange lead connects to the 'A' - Accessories connection - using a ring terminal - over the center post of the ignition switch. Sample wiper motor showing the orange lead below.
There once was a collector named TA
With parts stacked from floor to the bay
From brackets to bolts
He'd hoard all the gold
Now wiper arms hide in the fray!
Thanks everyone, thats a big help there. Just another gremlin to chase down as we all know.
just when everything is working perfectly BAM! another gremlin shows up.
