Here's The problem 12 days ago i came home from hunting and very tired left my dome light on killed the battery. Swaped with brand new battery started fine for three days then acted like the starter was hanging so i changed starter and solinoid didnt fix it . Took the battery back had a dead cell got another battery truck starts fine till tonight i leave my house drive 3 miles to work and shut it off dead.Roll start it home, The strnge thing is radio lost no power and headlights still work . I think a dead cell again but two dead cells in two weeks do they have a bad lot of batterys or is my electrical system bad the, truck is a 85 f150 300 with 4 speed does anyone have any ideas?
are you sure the alternators charging, regulators functioning, or that there is a charge getting to battery? you may want to check that before you swap batterys again. check voltage or may be put an external batt. charger on it to see if batt. takes charge from that. if it does then you know it something in charging system.
by the way much props on the 300. best engine i've ever had for sure.
If you can turn the headlamps on, and then try to start it and they stay pretty bright and it won't crank, then see if it will crank by taking a small piece of wire and connecting point #3 to #5. If this works, you may have a problem with the neutral safety switch or the clutch switch.

Thanks for all the input, after swaping out the Everstart battery.on saturday morning in the parking lot. Just like i thought i had a another dead cell or a short in the the battery. The new one right off the shelf was dead. I mean 8 Minutes and I went right back in and had a wonderful chat and 2 minutes latter new battery. left wally world Went straight to the zone and got voltage regulator and alternator tested, regulator was good alternator was puting out enough juice to outpass the gauge. I guess the alternator was overcharging then cooking the battery
My old Motorcraft finally gave up the ghost with all of the wierd happenings within the electrical system on my F150 (1997) Lariat. I bought a battery from Wal Mart and it's cranking fine. Problem is the electrical situation is the same so I have to solve that particular puzzle. Posted earlier on this forum.
In short, the price of the battery was cheaper than elsewhere and it's standing in there (so far).
