223 Clutch install issues

I am posting here in the 61-66 Forum hoping one of you guys might have some addution perspective on my clutch issue in my 1955 F250 223 IL 6. I also posted this in the 57-60 forum. Trying to get as many people to give input as possible as maybe someone else already experienced the issue.

1962 Block
1955 Bell housing
11" Clutch

Instead of rewriting everything I was hoping you might check out the 2 threads below.

The first thread goes though all the measurements of my flywheel etc. and the ultimate clutch selection.

https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...l#post21561676

The second thread goes through the current issues with the install.

https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...l#post21589947

Any assistance would be much appreciated!

Seems you have some mismatched parts. Here is a parts list from a NumberDummy post for a 223. NAPA's web site will generally take Ford part numbers.

Measure the diameter of the clutch disc. 223 6 cylinder should be 10."

Clutch disc, pressure plate, throwout bearing, throwout bearing hub, and pilot bearing. Replace all these parts. NAPA is the best source.

Original Ford Part Numbers

1-B7C-7550-A .. Clutch Disc-10"

1-C5TZ-7563-B .. Pressure Plate-10"

1-B3TZ-7561-A .. T/O Hub

1-C0TZ-7580-B .. T/O Bearing

1-B-7600-A .. Pilot Bearing

Keep greasy mitts off the clutch disc when installing a new one. Otherwise..

Thanks. Original was an 11" inch clutch but I may have to go to a 10" given the set up you listed is proven.

Thank you!!!

Here is another post from ND. This is from the 48-56 forum. If you do some advanced searches in all the forums from 48 to 66 using NumberDummy in the username you can get a lot of info on original part numbers. Over the many years he was active he posted every part number in the book. He did mention that all the 4 speed trucks got 11-inch clutches.

C5TZ-7550-D (replaced B6D-7550-D & 81T-7550) .. 11" Clutch Disc / C0TT-7563-A (replaced B7Y-7563-A) .. 11" Pressure Plate.

Apps: 1961/64 F100/600 223/262 I-6 / 1957/60 F100/250 223 I-6.

Disc only: 1938/47 Commercial (1/2 ton), 122" wheelbase (3/4 ton) truck / 1948/51 F1/F6 226/254 L-6, 239 flatty / 1952/56 F100/600 215/223 I-6.

Here is one from this forum.
Ford didn't supply the hub with the bearing on 223/262/292, both parts were sold separately.

B7AZ-7561-A .. Throw Out Bearing Hub / Obsolete ~ Available NOS & from auto parts stores.

C7AZ-7580-A .. Throw Out Bearing ... It's the same 3 & 4 speeds, was also used on 1965 240/289/352/390 Passenger Cars, 1966 Bronco 170/289.
