I am looking at buying a
2015 Ford F-150 XL 6.5-ft. Bed 2WD
vin: 1FTMF1C8XFKD85023
I am told it has a 3.5L ecoboost engine but can't find anything online to confirm or refute that. any help?
if so I am looking at buying it as a work truck which will be routinely pulling 6000-10000 pounds, do you think this is enough truck for that much towing?
its a 2015 with only 20k miles on it for $22,500 . spent most of its life sitting in a garage.
yea I seen the 350s but higher mileage and price tags to
thanks for looking into it for me.
it seems like a pretty damn good deal for 22.5k , what do you think ?
This truck in the link below? It’s actually an 8’ long bed, and it’s a 3.5 non turbo VIN code 8 (not an EcoBoost). That’s the base engine, which is a good engine. Many people get tricked into thinking they bought an EcoBoost. There has been a post or three here about that in the past. The truck below is a fairly bare bones work truck that they put vinyl stripes, and OEM 20” wheels on to make it look like a much more expensive truck. Looks good though.
It will tow up to 5k, maybe 6k lbs without much issue. Over that? That’s the wrong truck.
yes, its the one in the link. I may still buy it, I like the idea of having a truck with only 20k on it even if I can only pull my little trailers. it doesn't currently have a hitch on it, which I know I can easily install, but does it not having a hitch tell me anything else I need to know about its towing capacity? or is this truck have to same capabilities as one that came from the factory with a hitch?
Max towing around 7500# per towing guide. I'd say good hitch, it tows 5k easily, and that's a pretty decent amount. The 6 sp trans is better than early 10sp transmissions. Carfax is nice, but remember I have a 20 and have done every oil change, mine would show nothing, but carfax likely would show any accidents. Good luck
the dealer told me this is most definitely an eco boost. he said it was an added upgrade to the truck and directed me to this on the car fax page "3.5L V6 F DOHC 24V" which when I google it say that designates an ecoboost engine. while I 100% want to believe you guys, it does seem to be an eco boost. any ideas? is the dealer blowing smoke up my *** ?
It will have EcoBoost on the engine cover, and a large plastic air tube running across the front of the engine, that will then branch to each turbo. But VIN code 8 says it's simply a 3.5 V6 with no turbos.
Sir, that is NOT an ecoboost, it would have badges on it, AND the Carfax says it is not.
Keep in mind, you say 'Dealer', I say used car salesman, think slippery fish.
Not saying it is a bad deal, it looks nice. I'd ask if I could have a professional mechanic take a look at it, they shouldn't have anything to hide right?
And per the carfax, Dove Auto has owned it since 2/11/25, that alone would make me not interested
Good luck, if it seems fishy, it is. If it's a Buy here pay here Lots, they are in a league of their own.
joke: do you know how to tell if a used car salesperson is lying? his lips are moving!
