Disconnecting the battery

Hi all,

Hopefully this will be a short post and a simple answer. I'm not in the US with access to my truck at the moment, so I can't check it for myself.

My 24 F450 7.3 gas (with the dual batteries) and camper needs to be put into storage for an unknown number of months and we will not have access to it as we live in France - awaiting a house sale before collecting the truck in Oregon.

The truck was left for a number of months last year with a friend, but this year we don't have that access. The friend put both batteries on a trickle charge because I received alerts on the Fordpass app that the battery level was getting low. I am flying to Oregon next week to take care of a couple of issues with the storage, and plan to disconnect the batteries to prevent them running flat in case I can't get back for 6 months or longer. There is no electric available at the storage place. So here are the questions:

- If I disconnect the batteries can I still get into the truck to pop the hood using the emergency key inside the key fob?
- Is there anything I should be aware of if disconnecting both batteries or when I come to reconnect them?

Thanks for your help.

No concerns leaving the batteries disconnected at all. Yes you can use the physical key to unlock the door and then pop the hood.
