Gas filling issue
Mods, apologies. I'm sure this is frowned upon. Just trying to get help or supply others with ideas to this issue
Your best route if you wanted help is if you modify this post & update with the issue and what you've tried to do to fix it.
- At the gas pump, the pump will click off after filling a gallon or less.
- What "solves" the problem is to remove the charcoal canister to solenoid hose above the truck bed spare tire and blow air back towards the tank. That seems to "fix" the issue for a few months. This pushes air through the canister, to the tank.
- The last time
- I removed the solenoid, removed the filter after the solenoid, and blew air through them. I also activated the solenoid with 12v. I reassembled and did not blow back through the canister. This did not solve the problem. I thought maybe that solenoid at the canister filter was the issue. This seems to suggest it is not the issue.
- Next I removed the hose from the canister to the solenoid and blew compressed air back towards the tank. This does typically resolves the issue for 2-3 months. I've done this 3-4 times. This time I also blew compressed air from the tank fill cap. I can hear the pressure build, and then once I stop applying air it takes 4-5 seconds to release all the pressure.
- I'm leaning towards either the canister or the other solenoid under the hood as the cause. I see other posts about folks drilling out the plastic charcoal canister. I also saw one person say he removed the tank to canister line and blew out the canister for a day! Just left the air connected to an industrial compressor!
