Electric fan swap?

Has anyone swapped out their clutch fan? The AC stops working as good when we are stopped and works better when we are driving.(I imagine it’s because of the clutch fan). So just curious if this solves it.

I'm not sure what that unit actually is... it looks like it has hose connections. Is it intended to replace the entire radiator? Is that necessary?

On a separate thought, I have no idea if it will fit and work but the E-Series diesels have an electrically actuated fan clutch. I'm sure the gas engine PCM won't have connections for the electric fan clutch but you would need some kind of external control for an electric fan as well.

An entire radiator replacement with dual fans. Probably not entirely necessary but I figured an aluminum radiator wouldn’t hurt. We live in Texas and we travel a lot so wouldn’t hurt at all.

A 4 core radiator alone should solve any A/C issue you have
I'd leave the stock clutch fan on there
Don't care what you're driving (Mercedes, BMW, Ford) et al.
They all suffer lower AC performance when in traffic or at a stoplight
I drive mine in the west desert and all around hot Utah and Nevada at 117 degrees and use my A/C just fine with a aluminum 4 core radiator
Course, it won't blow 37 degrees at 117 ambient

Note
I think that setup might work just fine, but it also might not work at all
I had dual fans and a good shroud on mine as a test
I went back to a clutch fan for my setup, it just works better
A decent solution in hot traffic is to spray water on the condenser when you need it
On my 83 633 CSI BMW coupe, I did that with a 2nd washer pump and it worked great
I used to drive the car in hot traffic back and forth to work
Spraying water on the condenser was the answer for that car, for me

The electric fans will require a large 30-40 amp circuit. Wiring this properly to ensure reliability is not simple. Substandard wiring may damage the engine when it fails. Unless you currently have a problem with cooling....e.g. it overheats....I would not replace the simple mechanical system with electrical components that may be of low quality and reliability.
