One of my inner fenders was rusted out from the battery, the other looks good except 2 of the 3 square nuts for the hood mounting bracket have fallen out. I think I can bend the bracket to fit them back in, but where do I source these square nuts? Hardware store or is it a part that is commonly found elsewhere? Any advice or suggestions on technique securing the brackets once I get the square nuts? I know they serve the purpose of being slightly adjustable, so I want to leave them that way. Last resort will be a new one, but it doesn't seem necessary.
Try clipsandfasteners.com, mcmaster carr has a large selection of square nuts. You should be able to get a new square nut placed in there and tap the cage back over and tack weld it down.
It has been awhile since I repaired mine. I think I just tack welded the cage back on. I don't think the cage nuts from amk products are the right fit without seeing a better picture of the apron.
