Good Gravy, these dirtbags have our info at their instant disposal?? This is my 3rd notice and they have too many deets, the first one that I threw out already had both the Wife and me for a minute, very official - only thing missing was the Ford logo. I don’t even have my title and tags yet . Not very fond of our cyber worlds evolution…….
Often times this stuff starts because the DMV sells access to this information. On one hand, Ford or other manufacturers can get recall info out. On the other hand, scammers know when you buy a car.
I get 3-4 calls/texts a day asking to buy my property. The county property tax office information is open to the public, but what's interesting is they increase rapidly right after paying property taxes, like within an hour of hitting "pay", before it even shows up as paid in the website when they kick out the paid list on whatever schedule it is on to the purchaser, everything is automated and very cheap and easy to mass spam that stuff out. I reply to all of these with a picture of President Xi looking all serious and in Mandarin "I'm watching you". Started with the warranty people, now I do it with the buy your land, pay your toll, package didn't get delivered, etc. Still waiting on a reply.
Just a part of life, so I have fun with them. Always write return to sender on the letters and stick back in the mailbox too.
I doubt Ford has anything to do with it, not that they are not recording your info but I own 2 Toyotas and get this official looking crap for both of them at every mileage anniversary. I have been told by someone I trust this info is sold on a regular basis by state DMV offices most likely for insurance reasons but at that point just about anyone can get it. Carfax, Insurance, Dealers, etc.
Good to know that I’m not alone with this kind of stuff. The Wife and I are dual citizens now, after the 2015 election in Kanada, we knew it was time to flee and thank goodness that my firm is international - I don’t have much positive to say about Kanada besides the scenery in BC and the fact we never got spammed like we do here with every major purchase, I’ve never have given out my SSN as much as here, it gets tossed around like candy on so many low importance forms, giving out your SSN (SIN) up North, just isn’t done except on proper legal docs with some weight to them….. All that said - God Bless Texas!

I don't even think it's sold by the DMV, anything registered with your state is public information. Property you own, taxes you've paid, vehicles you own, etc. etc. etc. It's all available and usually for free. If someone REALLY wants to find you, and your name is on anything filed with a government office, you can be found.
This leads to a LOT of these kinds of things, the offers to buy your property, the offers of health/car insurance, extended warranties, you name it. You would think that a lot of these places would go out of business because it's annoying and people would ignore it...but evidently they make enough off these mass mailings and suckers out there to stay in business.

Do a google search and you will see that many States sell DMV information including my own, New York. Property information is readily available to the public. DMV records are not. I can go to my county's website and find lots of detail information about any property in my area. However, I can't go online with the plate number to find the owner of the car that just backed into my truck. DMV info is not publicly accessible.

By Law the SSN was NEVER to be used for Identification purposes, but some dumbo in office thought it would be a good idea and rewrote the bill regarding the SSN. What a Schmuck.
boy isn’t that the truth - the fact the require data collection to enable things like remote start sucks. I would be willing to share my location but really have no desire to have my truck telemetry shared
