I have a 2003 F 350 with the 6.0L and the auto tranny. When I use the Tow/Haul the back tires lock up when it down shifts into 2nd. Has anyone else had this problem and was ford able to correct it?
Mine did that initially, then as I put more miles on the truck and started towing my 3 horse trailer the shifts smoothed out. My understanding is that the computer controling the trany shifts "learns" your driving patterns and adapts the shifting as more miles are driven. You could also get it reflashed but that brings in a whole nother set of issues.
I have 7200 miles on it now and the tow haul shifts are nice and smooth
My truck didn't do it initally but started after 3000K. Another guy I know has the same truck and it does it also. The dealer said that it's normal but it feels like somethings going to break when it downshifts sometimes. What problems may arise if it gets re-flashed?

If your truck's performance is good now [aside from the jerky shift] do not get flashed. They changed the programming to address problems that some truck have shown, rough idle, hard starts, smoking etc. The new flash eliminates the split shot injections and does make the truck louder and it can affect your trucks performance.
My take [as well as a lot of the guys over on the Dieselstop] is if it runs well don't flash it, if it has problems think long and hard before you do it.
