Took me forever to figure that out !! Never considered a new master to be the problem but it was. I will say that after i got it all fixed - i tightened the rear brakes not even a 1/4 turn on star and it helped the travel on brake pedal ! I had adjusted rears before ever replacing anything but maybe not enough. Maybe bleed all 4 one more time after adjusting rear shoes and see what happens. If you remove one line at a time on new master and have someone press pedal do you strong pressure ? Make sure to not allow air back into port when they let off pedal !

I had the same problem a few years ago. I chased my tail for years trying to find the cause of my sinking pedal and soft brakes. Eventually, I replaced my remanufactured Motorcraft master and the problem disappeared. After disassembling the defective master cylinder, I found the bore had gouges in it.

I replaced the new brake best select master cylinder and sticker on box said - made in China ! Returned it today and didn’t realize it cost 75 bucks ! I got fl1a filter and 6 qrts of oil and some spark plus and few other odds and ends and got 17 bucks back.
