Yesterday I was driving home with a hall of dirt in the back of the truck and I noticed it was sluggish going up my steep Hill to the house but didn't think much of it until I got to the driveway and I was backing up and smoke was coming out of the engine bay, especially on the driver side kind of near the tire. Well. It wasn't dirty and didn't smell like coolant or oil. It was a pretty white smoke. Almost smelled like rubber or electrical burning. I popped the hood and didn't really see anything specific and the truck has been sitting ever since. Oil and coolant levels look fine but my initial guess is not knowing where to look next. Any thoughts?
When I had a previous coolant issue with another vehicle the coolant smoke smelled sweet and fishy so I thought that was my baseline for this. Coolant level was fine but maybe under duress there could be a pinhole. I'll check when it ramps up to operating temps again
One possibility is your brake caliper dragging and/or your rear drum brakes being out of adjustment.
Are you familiar with what over heated brakes smell like?

Does that also include the transmission fluid level?
Yes up to temp. It was a university vehicle and they switched the rear axle to the one ton with leaf springs. And from my understanding that was the difference between the 250/350 back then. I could be wrong. But I discovered the axle thing when I did my bearings after buying it back in 17.
