Hello again! I was also wanting to install a tranny cooler in my BII and was wondering if anyone had a great "How-To" on the install. The instructions on the couple that I was looking at were horrible! Also does it matter what size of tranny cooler i get? I was thinking of the one that was rated for Truck and Motorhome use towing up to 5000 lbs. I figured that i may as well just keep it really cool if anything. Any probs with getting to big of one. lol thank you guys so much! You guys are awesome!
Well, i am guessing that the answer is no one has a good how-to because its been like a week. But i guess if anyone does find one please reply to this! Thnks guys
I asked a local mechanic about installing a tranny cooler and he said it would cost around $100. My b2 is a 5 speed so I didn't ask any further details, but I guess it can be done. Good luck.
If I was installing one I would take the out line and run a rubber hose from it to the cooler, then run another back to the radiator and leave the in line to the tranny from the radiator as stock. The cooler mounts in front of the radiator/condenser.
So, I went out and was looking at the front of the truck and noticed that there was some other kind of radiator, or cooler, attached in front. There is obviously the main radiator, then in front of that on the passenger side of the main radiator is the A/C Condensor (or whatever it is called), and then there is something else in front of the main radiator on the driver side of it. It is pretty small, about 1 ft wide and 8 inches tall. I was wondering if anyone else has that? Is that a stock oil cooler, or previously added tranny cooler? Thanx again guys. And by the way i do have an auto (A4LD) with the 2.9 V6.
The automatics have a stock tranny cooler. Mine has it. It's mounted directly in front of the radiator, more to the passenger side. The lines should trace to behind the radiator on the driver's side, one line at the top, one line at the bottom.
