I have my dads 2000 Expedition Eddie Bauer w/ 4 corner air ride. The rear seems to sag some relavant to the front (have new bags in the back) and have replaced the compressor (all Arnott parts), also fixed a leaking air line up front.
I'm wondering if there is a dealership suspension level procedure where I can get the rake of the truck front/back back to factory. Just seems to ride rough in the back, like it's not going to the right height.
(also why does the front stay aired up fully but the rear, while pumping up at least most of the way and staying inflated ((most of the way)) go down a little)
May have a failing height sensor, this was a big PITA on pal's 00 with air ride and 4x. BCM had some codes, whip out that Forescan and take a look.
His had a leaking line and height sensor issue. Seems to work fine now. Then you can compare the factory 'trim' height for various functions. In 4x it rises some which is neat.
I've used Forscan on this multiple times in the past, but there are no codes for the suspension - other stuff yes, suspension no. I looked in Forscan and I can see nothing that would allow me to do anything on the suspension. I did some searching with "LLS" on here after posting this and trying to find how to set ride height in front with torsion bar cranking so if Forscan could allow me to do that proceedure that'd be great.
It seems like for the rear, the 4 corner will 'sit' in the back after a period of time to allow easier entry...I think it looks crappy, and don't remember when it was newer it doing this (or at least, to this extent) but it IS holding air after multiple days being off, and it's level side to side. So from searching I just need to adjust the sensor back there up or down and the back will sit a little higher...or, like you say, the sensor is going bad...
His was at the dealer to be set, twice. Not sure what they used to set it and test, as I was under the impression Forescan was a reverse engineered Ford tool. The dealer is the one that found out the height sensor was kaput. Among the previous failures.
His rear had coils too I swear, maybe yours are tired. My 01 leans left some, just need new coils (no air) and is 4x. Careful if you do as they may be sprung differently
The 01 Burb is worse, with air in the rear and four corner auto dampening. Compressor died and already has Arnott shocks out back. I think I am done with that Autoride!
There are no coils on my 00, it's torsion bar to take the weight for front and air up front to control rebound and level, for the rear it appears the air shocks (new Arnott) hold the weight and traditional tube shocks (a year or two old, Motorcraft) control the rebound.
