I have a question. I just bought a 95 ford Bronco and it has 180,000 miles on it. My friend suggested to rebuild the engine instead of buying a new one. In my experience, rebuilt engines have trouble with cooling as well as other things. does anybody here have a rebuilt engine, and if so, do you have any complaints? or do you recomend one? any and all help would be greatly appreciated.
rebuild it i did one myself and it is a 302 bored all the way to .060 over and no overheating. the only overheat if you have them bored too much. my 302 would be bored too much if i did not have a bigger radiator and such.mine stays between 190 and 230 when going. closer to 215. is the bronco smoking or knocking or any other wierd noises. if not why rebuild. if it aint broke don't fix it.
180,000, thats not that bad, but is it runnin bad? my 92 150's got 241,889 and is still running strong, only a loud knocking but thats it!! No leaks or hard startin or bad shiftin. Bronco's are tough beasts though, my uncle had one for a plow truck for 15yrs and its still goin!!
thanks for all the advice, The truck was an office car in a construction company (the same one I work for conveniently). it has a lot of street miles on it and it has a small to medium knocking. still runs strong though and it was in the shop every three thousand miles because we have in-company mechanics employed with us. so i guess i can afford to wait a while
