missing 302
I have a 1989 f150 with a 302 and automatic transmission. The motor was replaced after only 79,000 miles. I had hoped the new engine would run great and it is a lot better. The motor still has a slight miss in it occasionally during acceleration. It is most noticeable in overdrive. It sounds wierd but it also seems worse in windy conditions. I replaced the fuel filter, tps sensor, ran higher octane gas and generally looked for any loose vacuum lines. It idles more evenly since I replaced the tps sensor, but did not cure my problem. I took it easy on the first engine and cant afford for this one to blow up. Can the catalytic converter or map sensor be my problem? Will the motor run correctly without the catalytic converter? Generally the performance is not up to par with other 302 I have owned or ridden in. Help!
