Slightly Different Tailgate Problem

Hi Guys,

I need your help! My tailgate window gets stuck halfway every time. If I yank on it I can get it to close. It even gets stuck on the way down sometimes. I replaced the motor and it did not really help at all. I took out the regulator, cleaned it up and regreased it and it helped a little bit. The regulator seemed to be in fine condition. I had heard that sometimes the tailgate bends in and pinches the window and that can cause a problem. I took out half of the weatherstripping so there was no tension and it barely helped. Any ideas what to try next? For those of you who have removed your regulator, how stiff is the spring. Mine had decent tension on it but nothing you could not move by hand pretty easy. My Bronco is a 95 XLT if that helps at all.

Thanks for your help!

Test the motor action with the tailgate open by folding down the driver's side latch. Just grab ahold of it and turn it downward. This will activate the safety switch, allowing the glass to be raised (the tailgate thinks it's closed). See if the glass will raise with zero interference from the rubber weatherstripping.

good luck,

CTI

Had a similar problem when I got my tint done, guys who did it had the tailgate open with glass out, put pressure on window and would have problems going up or down. Opened up to get some access and lubed it up and suprisingly it worked.
