Hi all, I have been trying to understand this whole new BMS system on my 2024 f-250 6.8. After watching the video that explains how the system works and the proper way to recharge the battery by connecting to the actual BMS and not directly to the negative post of the battery. He also mentioned that any accessories should not be connected directly to the neg post? So, if I'm understanding him correctly is it ok to connect my slide in camper charging neg wire and my winch neg wire to the post and nut that is on top off the little black box/ Or am I looking at this wrong? THANKS
on my last truck i had stuff connected to the what i call the extra nut on the post, worked fine
but charging the battery, you should connect in a way that the sensor is getting the charge info
of if you use the posts, the battery will be charged and it may take a key on key off cycle to let the system register the battery/s are up to charge
the last few updates really helped the sleep mode and other weirdness, at least in my 22 150
my 21 250 had crazy battery issues until an update and new junction box
so far the 24 250 has had no issues with battery levels, even after sitting for 28 days in the shop
if i do forscan i always have a charger connected at at least 15 amps
Thanks for the reply, I'm wondering if the 2-amp battery/trickle charge I have is powerful enough to charge and maintain the battery in the truck with this new BMS. The power usage of the new 2024 trucks when it is parked for weeks at a time is crazy. I'm on my second battery at 8000 miles and trying to keep it heathy.
Yes I have a 2024 slide In HAWK four wheel camper. It was originally wired directly to the main post of the battery, then the after some research I recently moved the neg side to the BMS post. But when I have the 2-amp trickle charger connected with the new battery It seems to not charge back up. I checked my battery monitor of the camper lithium battery and the voltage does not change so that leads me to believe the battery separator is working between camper and truck.
I have since then reset the BMS again and it is now trickle charging away as the truck sits there and as far as I know everything is working at this time and have not received the going into sleep mode message. so, the 2-amp charger seem to be working just fine.

Sounds like you found the sweet spot with these new systems. Enjoy the Hawk.

I see you have an F250 shortbed. I was looking into slide in campers and FWC is highly recommended. With your Hawk in the truck bed, are you able to close the truck tailgate ?

my 24 sits for often months at a time and my Battery Tender is 1.25 amp and it's always fully charged.
