92 7.3 idi E350 4x4

Hey all!
I'M John and Binky is my 92 E350 4x4 that I bought a few years back and have been using as my camper/tow rig for my little race car.
It has about 65k miles on it as it spent most of it's life running a pto for a crane that was mounted to it. 3500 hours on the hour meter.
The more I drive it, the better it runs, but this is my first diesel and I'm still learning. I flushed the transmission last summer and the fluid was gross!
I just drove 320 miles for a visit and it ran perfect, but this morning I ran an errand and now it won't shift to OD.
I'm going to post this on the 7.3 page too.
Looking forward to hearing from the experts !

John

Looks like you've got a good thread going over in the Pre-Power Stroke Diesel (7.3L IDI & 6.9L) forum!

Welcome aboard!

Thanks!
A little more background on Binky,
It came from a Government auction at the Idaho National Laboratory, the US nuclear research facility.
It is one of the first thousand of the 92 new body style vans and was built as an RV unfinished chassis, then sent to Anderson All Wheel Drive for conversion. The drivetrain is a 91 F350 pto transfer case w/Dana 60's front and rear. Front is a kingpin axle.
It had a crane inside, powered by the pto, that folded out and ran sensors up and down boreholes looking for radioactivity. The crane mounted through the body to big frame brackets. All that was removed and a cover plate added where the pto was.
Then it got used as a cyber security test vehicle, spoofing cell towers. I still have not removed all the antennae. That's also where the KAB air-ride seat and most of the solar wiring came from.
It didn't want to start the day I bought it because the glow plug relay wires were cut too. Didn't know that at the time. A brief shot of either got it started and I drove it three hours home. Restarted again easily once warm. First project was to repair the controller and harness and replace the glow plug.
I cut open the roof and installed a "Chef's Combi-Wagon" pop top that I pulled off a 1976 Dodge.
I've been using it for camping and towing my hillclimb car.
It's both my first Ford (though I've driven them for work for the last 20+ years) and my first diesel!
