Any of you guys/girls try this on your SD?? I am thinking that it would aid in the getting in/out process. I am 6'6" but am tired of grabbing the windshield to get in.
Yes alot of us have them, just order from ford, make sure to get all
the attaching components. This isn't that hard to do,but chk your passenger side to see how they did it before doing yourself.
Plus if you want a-pillar gauges you can't have the grab-handle
>Thanks Forty, probably won't get in to the A-pod so this

>A-pillar cover??
Yes there is,thats why I suggest that you take pass side off to look
how they did it.They used speed cinch nuts, that distribute the stress
through out the a-pillar.I have the a-pillar gauges waiting to be installed ,so I chose not to do the grab -handle.
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 16-Aug-02 AT 03:13 PM (EST)]Sounds like a great mod. I found the previous discussion...good detail. It is topic 2050. Try this link:

Buy a 2003 I noticed the other day that they started putting a grab handle on the pillar for 2003. They dealer asked if I noticed any differences between the 2002 and 2003 and that was it without getting in and digging around. I think it sounds like a sensible modification and probably pretty easy to do. Good luck with it. Later
How much trouble is it to get the A-pillar covers off? It isn't obvious to me at least, how they come off. I hate to start prying on the wrong area and tear something up. Are they just pop-off pieces, or are there hidden fasteners to locate? I appreciate any help.
Thanks for all the info... I called the Ford dealer, and the guy in parts said he could order the handle for me, but cautioned that he's seen "several" of them yanked off since there is no reinforcement on the driver's side as there is on the passenger side. Anybody find this true? Is the driver's side A pillar any less reinforced than the passenger side?
