Question Pirelli Tires

The 2024 F150 King Ranch we just purchased has Pirelli Scorpion ATR 275/60R20 tires on it.

Read some reviews on Pirelli's site, and there were quite a few un-favorable reviews. Claiming lack of traction in snow, mud, and that they flat spot sitting in a garage for a couple of days in cold weather.

Was wondering what comments anyone might have. Would hate to have to replace them, as the truck just turned 550 miles.

Thanx

i found them to have great DRY traction, wet bad, wear out very fast, my case 15.000 miles drive them to where you have to buy new, get what you make up your mind on .

Thanx for your reply. Will probably end up with Michelin Defenders. Have them on our other 3 trucks and like them.

My buddy had Pirelli Scorpions on his F150 and said winter traction was bad and they wore down fast.

Not sounding good. Probably end up with a set of Michelins.

My 24 came with pirelli’s . I don’t have 20” wheels. Think I I have 17”. The factory tires suck in snow. Thinking of putting Duratracks on for next winter.

I've been wrestling with making a change to the Michelin Defender's also. Looking at the specs there's only a 77 pound increase in load capacity but the Michelin has a inflation capacity at 50 psi vs 44 for the Pirelli. Load index ratings are 116 for the Michelin and 115 for the Pirelli. The only reason I started looking at it was we will be towing a travel trailer with around 800 pounds of hitch weight. Capacity wise this is within the Pirelli specs but the Michelin's seem better suited for towing. Most of the time the truck won't be towing anything so may be overthinking it.

Another issue in changing tires is pressures. I think the sticker pressure is 35psi, which I assume would stay the same if I change to the higher capacity Michelin's. I'm not sure how to adjust for weight since there doesn't appear to be a load inflation chart for these tires. When we had our F350's and fifth wheels this was not much of a concern. Just run whatever pressure was on the sticker.

I have friend whose family owns a couple of independent tire stores in our town. I took advantage of our friendship and asked him to get some prices for me as I just had a surprise, surprise double bypass a couple of weeks ago. I could do better price wise at Costco but my friend's stores offered $100 per tire trade in for the Pirelli's. I don't need the hassle of Costco or selling tires right now. My friend has offered to come get my truck and take care of it for me. Our ordered travel trailer came in this week and I've been able to put off pick up until after May 7, when I will probably be released to drive. So if I do anything it will be within the next few weeks.

Fishranger, am glad to hear you had a successful open heart surgery !!! I had a "6" by-pass myself 2 years ago !!

My other 3 trucks all have Michelin Defenders on them, and have been very satisfied with the ride, and handling. Wear is even. (I rotate tires every oil change). I was just hoping these tires (the Pirelli's) would be a decent tire. I feel shafted if I have to replace new tires with a better tire when it's brand new !!!!!

Unless you drive on snow covered roads often or actually go off road. I just run the junk factory tires until you get a flat. Just don’t expect them to last as long as a good tire.

While they far from my frist choice. The pirelli seems to be working ok to get me back and forth from work.

Since the tire dealer gave me a trade in for the Pirelli's my friend got my truck last Friday and had the Michelin's installed. I overpaid compared to Costco pricing but I'm very limited right now with the effects of my bypass surgery. I'll be glad when I get well enough to drive and see if there's any difference. The tire change may not be necessary but I feel better with the Michelin's. The wife's Subaru Ascent came with Falken tires that were changed to Michelin Primacy on day one as the Falken"s on her previous Subaru only lasted around 25K miles. We're at 40K on the Michelin's and holding strong.

I had the Pirellis on my f150 when I bought it new. If the roads were dry then they worked perfectly fine, but any sort of water or sand and they were garbage. I've had the Michelin Defenders, BFG's, duratracs, Toyo's and Falken tires. The michelins gave me the best fuel mileage, were the longest lasting tire I've ever owned and had excellent traction in most conditions. I really did enjoy them.

This time around I went with the Falken AT4W's. I got the LT version for 10-ply to last longer where I drive for work. They're great all around and stand up to the abuse. My favourite tire to date.
