we can start off by with the mysterious anti-freeze loss. the floors get a little wet on both driver and passanger side but this morning they were frozen. and they only seem to get wet when it rains so im thinking thats the windshield leaking. the temp gauge on the dash never gets more than a 1/4 of the way up but puts out burning hot heat. to add to this im getting very bad gas milage at 12-13 mpg. even with over sized tires. {31-10.5-15} the valve cover is missing two bolts but go figure thats not leaking. im thinking its a blown head gasket but theres no steam out the tail pipes and the antifreeze isnt getting into the oil. by the way its a 90 xlt auto 2.9 with 4x4
I still think you have a cracked head, have the cooling system pressure tested. When you burn coolant it kills the O2 so that would account for the coolant loss and the bad gas mileage.
im with ken i just got done replaceing a set of head gaskets on a car that showed no signs of it in the exhaust or the oil either but pressure tested it and there was a leak pulled the heads and you could see where the antifreeze was leaking into the cylinders
Do the pressure test, if it leaks down check for all other possible leak locations and then have the heads magnafluxed to determine if they/it are crack and if they/it is cracked you will have to replace it. Also check the intake when you take it off for possible leaks.
