Good morning everyone, I am slowly picking away at parts but now that Ive gotten to buying new motor mount bushings from Dennis Carpenter there seems to be a lot of options with not really much info, I am wondering which ones I need for my truck, 1953 Mercury M350, 239 Flathead V8, T98 Trans. Thanks
I'm not sure what options you're finding. 53 Flathead mounts are unique to that year, and I'm sure you know Ford and Mercury trucks would be the same. Don't be confused with Mercury car parts, which would be more commonly listed in US companies catalogs.
There is TAAA-6039-A, listed as 1953-1956 ford truck
As well as B5S-6038-A, listed as 1953-1956 ford truck C0TT-6061-B, listed as 1953-1960 ford truck lower
TAAA-6068-A, listed as 1953-1960 ford truck upper
As well as
TD-9402, listed as 1953-1964 ford truck transmission mount pad
TD-4716, listed as 1953-1964 ford truck transmission mount pad
So I suppose my question is do I need all of them or only certain ones? and how many of each do I need?
If you're just looking for the front engine mount rubber insulators, I show the upper as TAAA 6038-A and lower TAAA 6039-A. 53-55 (and maybe later, this is the scope of my catalog) use the same insulators, the unique part for 53 flatheads is the 6028 bracket.
Yes that clears up the front ones you were spot on, what about the rear rubber insulators? would those be C0TT-6061-B and TAAA-6068-A? or am I incorrect?
I show the TAAA-6068-A as being what you want. The COTT prefix is a 1960 number so it wouldn't be in my older catalog. But the 6061 basic part number comes up as a dowel for the cylinder head to block. Unless something drastically changed, that's a totally incorrect application. I don't have any catalogs or documentation to confirm or deny that further.
interesting, maybe someone made a mistake at some point writing numbers? common sense would dictate both these parts would go together ill include a picture.
Finally TD-9402 is listed as the transmission mounting pad, is this correct for a F350 with a T98? it lists it as for an F100 but as you know with these heavy duty trucks part descriptions can be dubious, and do I just need one if it is correct?
The part numbers were probably updated and changed. It happens all the time with Ford. Those parts are likely correct, or as close as you're going to get. My catalog shows 2 lower insulators, one for F100 and one for everything else. No idea what's different, but the upper is the same. I have B3C 6070 B for F100, B3T 6070 B for F250+. You'll need 2 sets, one for each side.
The TD 9402 is not a Ford number so I have no idea what that is for. Hope this helps.
Going through my library, C0TT-6061-B superceded B3TZ-6A061-B which superceded B3C-6070-A&B and B3T-6070-A&B. The 6A061 group is shown in this diagram:
