I am rebuilding my front brakes on a 50 F2. One of the brake drums has a drum face 2" wide and the diameter is 12". the other drum has a 1-3/4" face but is 12-1/8" in diameter My shoes are 1-3/4" wide. which one is correct? I would rather not use the 12-1/8" dia. because of the brake mounting design but apparently new ones are not available. Any one have a good 8 hole 12 x 2? Thanks
These charts shows that your F-2 uses a 12" drum with a 1 3/4 width friction surface. This -1125 drum has this sale listing (no experience with these vendors): https://classicautoparts.com/brakes/...ont-brake-drum
I don't feel it would hurt to use the 2" wide drum since it is the correct dia I would only have to buy 1 new drum. What do you think?
Anyone else try the Classic repop?
I'm not certain that mixing the two brake system style (Lockheed vs Bendix) components on the same axle or wheel is a good idea. I would really suggest you use a complete set of one system backing plate, shoes, wheel cylinders, springs and whatnot...

I once learned a long time ago.. most everything related to brakes... has to be changed pair wise...
As I was told... you also just don't buy one new walkingshoe.....always two ;-)
I don't think I would be mixing systems since everything is the same regarding the backing plates, shoes and cylinders match. Where did the 2" wide drum come from? An F3?

If you read the charts, you see the F-3 used the same as the F-2 in the front, and both have been equipped with Lockheed and Bendix configurations.
Here are the differences in the Lockheed and Bendix drums:
I suggest you match your brake system. Lockheed brakes have the lower double anchor cam bolts (and middle minor adjustment cams) whereas the Bendix has the more traditional star adjusting mechanism at the bottom.
Both of my backing plates have the centric adjustment. I checked with classic and they no longer can supply a new drum. So I am back to needing another 12" drum that hasn't been turned. Thanks to everyone for there input.
