Hey guys, I have a ‘98 E350 with the 7.3L.
Fuse #13 in the passenger compartment keeps blowing. I have tried unplugging the blend door actuator and it still continues to blow after about 30 seconds of AC. Would greatly appreciate anyone being able to point me in the right direction for next testing steps.
Hey thanks for the reply, I’m pretty new to wrenching on stuff and am clueless with electrical. What should I be looking for here?
Electrical problems can be difficult to troubleshoot on a forum because of the number of possible problems. Your van with AC (I assume) uses fuse 13 to power:
1. A/C clutch cycling switch
2. A/C presure cutout switch
3. A/C compressor clutch and diode
4. Blower motor relay and aux blower motor relay (vans with rear AC/heat)
5. Blend door actuator
Since fuse 13 is blowing, one of these items is shorting or the wiring somewhere in the circuit is shorting.
The only easy way to check for the failure point is to disconnect all of the items and then reconnect them one at a time until the fust blows. This is a brute force way to test but other methods require using a voltmeter and the wiring diagram.
If I only had one guess, I would pick the A/C compressor clutch as the problem. You can unplug this at the compressor.
Really appreciate the detailed reply, going to start going through these. It only blows when the A/C on so I'd assume this means its likely in that circuit so I'm starting there.
