Bad EGR Symptoms
my 92 5o was driving fine today, then i noticed engine temp went from N (its usual place) to M on the temp gauge. Parked it for 30-45 minutes and when I started it again it was choking like it wasn't getting fuel though I could smell it strongly. Started it again and did the same thing. On the third start it was fine and drove home no issues. I ran the codes and got 327 and 328. So I'm gonna replace the EGR valve and the sensor. I was wondering if there could be anything else causing this issue? I've read some functions of the EGR and it sounds like its the culprit but some other posts on here have said that the EGR doesn't effect engine performance since its part of the exhaust. Any insight on this or the function of the EGR would be greatly appreciated, I'm eager to understand. Thanks!
The EGR sure does affect engine performance
Back then, when your truck was made, the EGR valve was a main I/M component, and the processor would send the truck into a sort of limp mode if it saw NO EVP movement
I'd check the processor capacitors
When they start failing, the truck will run like puke at times and miss
