How exactly do they NOT go thru the engine to get stuck in the cats? LOL have another cup of coffee.

If they left the cylinder, that is what happens to them.

Like .... They are thin, light ground straps, I don't see one fighting it's way upstream through a momentarily open intake valve with an in-rushing air/fuel mix coming into the cylinder at high velocity.

Thanks for the peace of mind, it's great having the truck running properly again. It still has a slight miss at idle, but I'm wondering if that could be other worn components like cam phasers? I see from reading on the forum that a slight rough idle is rather common on these 5.4 Tritons...

Wow that's a lot of blowby on those plugs . That hot gas pushing by plug threads then on the intake the rush of oxygen going by acts like a cutting torch on those white hot plugs. Hope you got new boots too . I encourage everyone to do their own plugs every 60k . You time is free and you can afford to double check and do it right. That carbon around the plug tip it very tough so if you can use some carb cleaner to dissolve it on a cool engine let it soak awhile doing it several times . No additive can burn that out. That hard carbon can break plugs going in and out. That's why I still use nickel anti seize -just a little and a minor amount on threads .
