Do you think it is wise??

There is a 88' bronco II, that a gentlemen is selling for 1700.00. It has 150,000 miles, eddie b. edition, 2wd, the out side is in good condition and paint still nice. Do you think i should buy the vehicle? The engine is in good condition, but he says that he has to put a quart of oil in it every 2,000 miles

Thanks In advance

I would think twice about that one. Sounds a bit high. Check the Kelly Blue Book on it first.

Shoot, I put 5 quarts oil every 3,000 miles into my '88 Bronco. Mine's 4WD and it's worth more than $1,700 to me. Many things are worth more to the seller than to the buyer though.

value

Sounds way to high for a 2 wheel drive with 150 K miles. I would keep looking.

I agree, too high for what is offered. Take your time and you should find a higher quality unit for less money.l

I bought my 86 Bronco II for $700. Then I blew 1300 to get the engine replaced, then another &280 because the exhaust system fell off then another $270 for radias arm bushings and alignment. But I look at it this way, at least I'm not spending $500 a month every month for the next 6 years.

yes, MJB, and if you like your truck, now that you have done all that work to it, as long as you keep up on the service, it will last you forever man. my dad just had to rebuild his 2.8 for lack of doing proper service on it. oil is cheap compaired to a new motor.

mjv8507, i just bought a bronco II, an 1985 XLT/power everything/man shift/man 4x4 shift/auto hubs, ect. loaded. i paid 1500.00 for mine, and it actually looks and runs like it just came off of the showroom floor. 1700.00 is a little steep i think. i have always been a international scout man, but since buying this ford, im hooked. i think youll love it, but i would try like hell to jew the guy, or find one thats a little cheaper. 1 quart of oil every 2000 is a little much i think. if i had one that did that, i would jerk the engine and do a rebuild on it. you can possibly change the oil and put some aditives in it and cut that down by half ( like that motor honey ****) but seeing as it winter, i would not recomend that.

look at it this way, is the truck worth 3000.00 cause if you get it burning oil and find out it needs an overhaul to be right, thats what your gonna pay ( the price of the truck and a long block). i think you can do better pricewize. hell, ive got a 1975 international scout 4X4 ill sell you for 1000.00. it has the big 4 cyl. engine and is a MONSTER in the mud/snow. i took it to reno sometime back when it was snowing over donner pass and i was one of about 4 others that got thru wiothout getting stuck ( the other 3 were 2 jeeps and you guessed it, a ford bronco II!)

point is, dont jump on the first thing you see.
