Hi guys looking for some help. I have a 2002 with a 5.4. The analog odometer works fine but no speedo. I get speed readings from my scan tool so I thought it was the gauge. I had the gauge rebuilt and the guy replaced all the motors and said it should be fine. Tried today and still no speedo.
also new error code - keep alive power low?
any ideas? Issue with wiring from pcm to gauge? Not sure where the pcm is
Pull the cluster out
Check the speed signal going into your instrument cluster
That signal travels from module to module (ABS, processor, speedo)
Get a EVTM for your truck so you can determine where and when the signal splits
A Ford service manual will have you checking PIDS with a NGS
That's what us pros use (what I use anyway)
Many days, I watched the light line boys test the signal at the cluster
That's you
Ya I haven’t checked the signal from the pcm to the speedo or done a resistance check as the pinpoint checks state. Last is my last step.
But I’m doubting the gauge.
anyone know how to test the gauge sweeps and lights? The manual says hold odo reset and turn on ignition but it doesn’t work.
all gauges return to zero and except speedo when truck off.
Has anyone replaced the air core steppers with newer style ones?
