Angry brakes roar when applied

My '79 f100 makes a roaring sound when the brakes are applied. Sounds like the noise comes from the rear brakes which are drum brakes. Stops ok. Brakeshoes don't seem to be worn out. Any idea what is doing this?

Do you drive the truck much? Sounds as though there is rust build up. Let us know.

A cracked drum will do that also.

The truck sat for 2 years, so rust is possible. Will pull drums and check for rust and/or cracks. Thanks.
