Exhaust Help

Looking for info from anybody who has successfully eliminated drone. Currently running 5” exhaust, with a 5-7” tailpipe. Drone now is bad around 1500-2000 which I expected, but I would like to keep the volume and tone as it’s not obnoxiously loud but really want to be rid of the drone. Have looked at aeroturbine as I’ve read some had success with the non-resonated 5050 they offer but those were older model trucks with 6.0s, 7.3s etc. Also wondering if anyone has tried a Helmholtz resonator as I had one on a tundra I owned and it got rid of drone without sacrificing exhaust volume or note. Thanks for any help you may have as I am new to the forum. Edit: also truck is a 2018 6.7 powerstroke crew cab. Any videos of your setups would be greatly appreciated.

When I get drone sounds tells me it’s time to change my oil…not caring what the OLM says.

fuel dilution in my case due to most short trips .

Thanks for the reply! I definitely could see it being the case but I just did a full maintenance on the truck yesterday. Oil change, fuel filters, and air filters. Oil looked good, I know the larger tailpipe isn’t helping the situation but I’ve gotten the alignment perfect where it blends well with the truck and really don’t wanna change the setup I have. Even thought about adding sound mat just to prevent messing with the exhaust though I doubt it’ll get rid of much of the annoyance of the drone

Put a nice muffler on it. It will still growl, whistle and have the v8 burble but be drone free.

36" long resonator (glasspack or glasspacks) will have no drone and there is plenty of room for them. Allied makes a very nice unit- flows as well as any of the performance mufflers, has a very nice rumble of accel/decel and no tinny crackle either. I have run their units on everything I own for 30+ years. They las for many, many years as well

When I did mine I opted for the muffler option. No drone unloaded but still some drone when going up hills when I was towing ~11k lbs
