Wanting to see what your favorite method to fix a tank with rust in it. I've tried the lime-away with marbles, I also used a coating for the inside. Our would it be best just to buy new tank. Thanks ahead for the ideas. The tank I'm dealing with is the aux tank, inside the frame rail at the front of the bed.
New repop tank, they are cheap enough and that way your chances of getting the sending unit fuel sock, fuel lines, pump and especially the carb clogged up with "stuff". Some of those inner tank coating kits are known to flake off soon and then the pick up filter is the 1st thing to get clogged.
Spectra makes a nice reopo, most local auto stores can order it. Just make sure when you pick it up that you take it out of the box (RIGHT IN THE STORE) and insp it for damage. Especially on the pinch seam edges.
Make sure you get the tank that either does or does not have the EEC (roll over) valve on the top. If yours does have it, then you need to get that same style. That way you fill neck and vent lines will be the same.
