2018 F250 replace trailer connector

My 2018 F250 had the trailer connector come loose, so I'm throwing away the old one.
It's this part:
https://www.etrailer.com/Trailer-Wiring/CURT/C42JR.html

My question is -- since the old one worked loose, is there a better way to seal the part or lock it in place? Epoxy?

Here are some photos:
Connector was falling off so I removed it

I moved the wiring out of the way to look for any issues, looks good

I probably would not glue it. Looks like it has 7+ years of good use, $40 is just the cost going forward imo. I would clean all connections and spray with wd40 prior to reassembly.

There should be a metal flat spring clip in each side of the connector that expands out and locks into position. You can go around behind the bumper with a light and screwdriver to check and ensure the clip is engaged.

If I remember correctly, the part circled in red is the retainer clip.

Thank you for the tips.

I located the same part under several part numbers: C42JR $39.90 on etrailer is the same as 57020 $30.81 on Amazon, and the same as 49074 $39.99 at my local shop.
