I have a 99 ford ranger, blew the head gasket and it’s been sitting about 5 years, went to bar the engine over to see if it was still free, it bared over then it just stopped and I couldn’t turn it over anymore, is the engine no good?
You probably will not get any help here unless you provide more information like:
Engine displacement
Did you remove the spark plugs and fill the cylinders with 50/50 mix of diesel fuel and ATF and leave it to soak overnight
Did you remove the serpentine drive belt to eliminate stuck accessories
Did you use a torque wrench to limit FT-LB of torque when trying to turn it over
Did you try turning it a little at a time in both directions
Might be fine. You have to remove the head anyway to fix the gasket. Do that and you'll know. Probably just some rust in a cylinder. Could be minor could be major.
