Question regarding removing 6.8L
I am in the middle of replacing my engine with a reman, and have finished unbolting all necessary components and wires following the Chilton manual. I have taken off the 6 torque converter nuts and 7 transmission to engine bolts.
According to the Chilton manual, i took off the four nuts that secure the engine mount to the frame. This will allow the engine to only move up, until the bolts clear the holes. If I try to pry the block from the bellhousing, the engine can't move forward, due to those bolts going through the holes. I cant lift the engine straight up, because I read that there are bellhousing dowel pins used as guides that connect the two.
I'm hoping someone has some tips and tricks before I resort to removing the driveshaft and cross member to back the transmission up. The manual doesn't mention this at all. I've included some pictures for reference. Thank you in advance for your help!
