1969 F600 dump

I have an older 1969 f600 but I’m having troubles with the dump. It appears to work but it has an awful whine grinding noise when operating. I’m very unfamiliar with hydraulics on these and unsure what I need to look for first.

Well, with the dump up and safety put in place to keep the dump from crushing you. I would do a visual inspection. Most likely it is a PTO driven Hydraulic Pump, look over the condition of the PTO, drive shaft to the pump (if present). Look at the actual pump, look at the Hydraulic Fluid for water and dirt. Once the visuals are done, engage the PTO and listen to it, look at the drive shaft (if present) and Pump and see what is making the noise. Once you have the noise isolated then you can decide what to do next. If its the Pump making the noise, most likely it needs to be serviced.

Cylinder I believe is usually the reservoir on those. Should be a square plug on it to fill, at least the last one I saw did.

I guess that would make the most sense having it at the top of the system to fill all I see are these two bolts and plate up here.
