I put new batteries in my 2003 6.0 Excursion this afternoon. The others had gone well past their date so I put in two Interstate batteries. Beest started fine but the ABS Light stayed on. I drove it in my driveway a few feet and had to give it over to my wife to haul kids around. Has anyone else had the ABS light stay on. Is it resetting something and then will go off? A google search yielded nothing useful. Any help would be appreciated.
Since you just replaced the batteries it could be that it just needs to be driven. But I've never had that condition.
What has happened to me, several times, my tires rub the connection. Sometimes rubs it completely off or damages it. I've had to replace a few connectors and fix some chaffed wires. The connector is not in the best spot inside the wheel well. And the wires running to the hub aren't very well protected. I've tried to pull them away or re-situate multiple times. Sometimes I just need to fiddle with it. Plug it, unplug it or clean it off. Most of the time it's the connecter or wires that need attention.
Might be a good idea to do a quick check and make sure your connectors are good and no chaffs in the wiring.
Thanks, I will look into that. The light had gone off by the time she and the kids got back from youth group. She is taking the kids to NC this weekend so I will dig into those when they get back.
