Who's second place?

If Ford was wiped off the surface of the planet and you had to buy something else, ( I know, it's hard to talk about) what would be your second choice?
Would you go Cummins, or Duramax, or maybe your like me and you'd show up to work on an ostrich if you absolutely couldn't buy a Ford, because your that loyal to them.
Just curious. All aspects including, engine and just general quality of the truck.

2nd choice for me would have to be a cheby 2500 gas power . i don't drive enough any more to make a diesel pay for itself, 6.2 gas will handle the little towing i still do those 2 or 3 times a year

Ostrich. Great gas mileage...and if you treat them right, I'm sure they can tow.

2 to 3 times a year, isn't even worth the overall expense of owning a truck at all. For that, renting a u-haul would save thousands.

As to answer the threads question, there's no such thing as a truck that doesn't say Ford on it. So I guess I'd have to build my own or go up to medium duty.

I'd go Cummins/zf8 freedom line. I think the Ram even has Ford built quality beat. This is from Ram ownering relatives. They love em' . Ford has horrible QC since 2020 and GM has trans issues.
I would use the Ram to haul the bird incase the valvetrain failed on the Cummins, although not likely
