Might be a good idea to give Flood Ford a telephone call and ask them first hand?

There have been other posts on this site that indicate new laws in California restrict or prohibit sales of extended warranties from out of state companies.
Do you have a friend or family member who lives in another state that will allow you to use their address? ESP only contacts you through email.

what are the stupid FL laws and how does it effect factory extended warranty? I have the option of using an out of state address but why wouldn’t I just buy the warranty from my dealer?
I’ve had bad luck with non dealer warranties in the past so things may have changed since then.

Certain states have laws that restrict sales of extended warranty from out of state dealers. California recently enacted similar rules and as a result a CA resident has to buy from a CA dealer.

Go online with Flood and obtain a price for the policy you want using your FL address. Then go back and use an address from another state for the identical policy, you will answer your question. The FL price will be substantially higher.

They're still Ford warranties. They're just purchased from a dealer in a different state. Similar to if you went to that dealer to actually BUY the truck.
All it is, is Florida trying to grab some cash on the transaction. Same with California. Looks like it's the new trend - which is unfortunate.

this rings a little more true with me. I had been shopping for my truck for about 2 years and found almost no difference until recently in out the door prices from Georgia to Florida to Arizona. That included warrantees. It may have swung a few hundred bucks but that’s nothing on a 70k-100k purchase.
now if you want to go into property insurance the laws in FL are stupid. Profits for insurance companies are capped but they transfer money out to sister companies. In short the sister companies (wholly owned subsidiaries of the parent ins company) make huge bank while the ins portion of the business posts a loss and says woe as me.
Has any of the Californians here tried using an out of state address to purchase the extended warranty and then successfully been accepted by a California dealer for work? I've been exploring the cost of an extended warranty on my new truck and the California dealers have been quoting me prices of between $2K to $4K over what Granger in Iowa charges for the same warranty. I mention that and two dealers told me that Ford would not honor those warranties in California. "The warranty will not be valid in California even if you drive over there. We had a customer had that issue and had to cancel the warranty. I can reach out to my Director and see if he can help on the price and probably $500 off the price." and, "This is _____ _________ The Finance Director at _________ _________ Ford . I know you can buy the Vsc out of state for less but Ford doesn't allow you to use it in California . Sorry what _______ quoted you (about $2K above out of state price) is the best price we can do in California . Thanks."
Now the law in California says that you cannot purchase on the internet or on the phone. It does not say you can't purchase out of state personally with your smiling face sitting in some dealer's finance office.
So again the question is: Has any of the Californians here tried using an out of state address to purchase the extended warranty and then successfully been accepted by a California dealer for work? Feel free to vent about the wonderful state assembly and governor looking out for our welfare by passing this law.

It doesn't take a rocket scientist to understand why property insurance in Florida is far more expensive than, say, Iowa.
There is no way Ford would deny me warranty service if I happen to break down in California but live in Ohio and purchased ESP registered to my home address in Ohio...
