Hi folks. I've gotten to where I just don't need my big **** F-250 anymore. My 5th wheel is gone, and while I love the truck, it's just too much. So I'm going to be trading it in on a probably Ford Explorer. I'm looking at a couple of 2023's, relatively low mileage, one owner, and Ford Gold Certified. And of course they want to sell me the Gold Certified Protection Plan, 7 year, 100,000 mile Comprehensive Limited Warranty. They are offering it for $1900 (and some change). I know these can be had from other dealers, so does this one sound like a good deal? Are there any other better deals out there? Appreciate any help with this.
By the way, I'll be getting a fair amount of cash back from them also, as the truck is worth way more than the Explorer. I'm sure I could sell the truck and get more, but other than the over-zealous salesmen, I'm just looking to get the deal done and get the best I can. Again, appreciate the help.
From what I can tell, Ford Gold Certified is a level of Ford Certified used vehicle. Not an extra purchase that the buyer makes, but a certification that the dealer applies pre sale, built into the sales price. Usually it comes with a higher purchase price compared to non certified used vehicles.

Am missing something?
They are basically offering him an ESP/extended Comprehensive warranty. They are just framing it as an "upgrade" to the Gold Certified warranty. So instead of his 7-year/100k warranty being powertrain only, it would extend the 12-month comprehensive warranty to 7-year/100k.
OP - You should find out which level it is, and then cross-shop it on the Granger warranty website. It should be something like BaseCARE, ExtraCARE, PremiumCARE.
Its a 23 should still have a year of bumper to bumper on it unless it has over 36K already, so you have time to get a ESP. As others said, shop around.
