homemade adjustable draglink?

i'm using a 78-79 f150/bronco type tie rod and drag link on my 76 f150 4x4. would it be safe to make an adjustable drag link (for lift) by cutting the existing one and welding in some adjustment? anyone done this. i'm toying with the idea over buying a new one and just brainstorming for some good ideas for adjustment..

also, anyone know what the toe in measurement should be on this trucK?
thanks

Cut the end off weld in a threaded adapter and use a rod end with spacers on each side (to make up for the witdh of the old bushing style end), easy adjustment and less bind!
