need help on water guage
Hello, I have a 83 F250 with the 351 in it. I bought a used aftermarket water temp guage from a friend of mine. I took the old water temp sensor out of my intake, and noticed that the new one was too big to fit. so I took the outer ring off that had threads on the outside. I was left with the sensor and another ring with threads on it that could move up and down on the wire freely. so that fit in my intake. I screwed it in as tight as I could with the little space available. I started the truck and it was leaking just a little bit out of the intake where it went in and the temp was registering on my guage. It was working good when I revved it up and all of a sudden the guage went down to 0. and it wont work anymore. i am guessing that the guage just went bad, but i dont know what for. but if any of yall know what i've done wrong or have any suggestions..i would appreciate it. thanks.

to fix the leak put some thread sealer on it or pipe dope as we plumbers call it. anyways i would check the wiring. maybe a fues blew if you hooked it up through the box. or a wire came loose when you revved it up. if not get a new sensor.
