Does anyone have a picture of the cover that goes on the floor? I lost mine and I need to get one made up....Where does the steering column go on the plate, dead center? upper or lower center? I guess if I make my own, I can put it wherever to meet my needs so it clears my headers?

I may have the plates I replaced mine and made one for a tilt steering and flaming river u joints. Ed ke6bnl IIrc there are more then one plate to the opening.
I mounted my steering column first then made plate to fit opening it ended up being a lot higher up the toe board then the original opening. You can see picture in my gallery
You need to have the seat installed also so that you can get a comfortable angle on the column.
The Plate is made up of three pieces to fit around steering column. You can actually pull the steering box up thru the hole. Would be easier to get one from a wrecking yard then try and fabricate the whole thing. Take a 5/16" nut-driver with you, as there are many self-tapping screws.
If the '56 floor plate is the same, you can have mine-both pieces and the seal.
Just let me know asap-I am moving soon and will be packing up the pieces soon!
